Hi guys, looks like Kalli and I will be renting a sever for thewarz.com/ (Official site) uk.ign.com/videos/2012/09/20/the-war-z-developer-commentary(20min pre-alpha gameplay and dev chat) when it releases, why? you may ask, simple it looks like it may cost about $15 a month for a 70 slot private server (not a lot considering I'm paying that just for SWTOR) - for that you get access to the full Colorado map with all goodies and Zeds but with the added bonus of being able to control who comes in to play (was also thinking that any OotN member who wants to try the game will have a safe haven from which to try and survive before going over to a full 200 player sever (bonus of back up not too far away - albeit on another sever - see below) or they can help explore the map and exterminate the Zed menace and help rebuild Society . No worrying about unexpectedly getting killed by bandits, but, if you wish to go onto a public server with all your equipment in your bags and try the full experience of the game you can do (but there is a safe home for any OotN'r on my server :)personally I can see Bandits everywhere in that part of the game - trust no-one ). Although, the idea of going on a raid (or revenge run) to a public server sounds fun (apparently you choose which sever you spawn in after logging in to you character - which is nice ;D) I can see great possibilties with this game after release and with it being just a one off payment for the game (and any and all future updates inc) to play on the servers they have, and we all know it's always good not to have to pay $$ every month to play, but, to have the option for a private sever to have safe(ish) fun with Guilides, I'll buy that for a dollar ;D So, if anybody wants to come on my server let me know and will arrange it when game goes live - which isn't that far off ;D - and will let you know server name and password. Hope to see you guys there at the Zed Apocalypse ;D Dar P.S. Don't worry I wont be leaving SWTOR, you can't get rid of me that easy

That sounds like a great idea. I'd love to play that game when it's out - the one thing that was putting me off was the prospect of being ganked in PvP while sneaking about on my own.
But a private 'OotN' server where we can meet up would be awesome. I can just see it now - a group of us heading out from the abandoned building we retook for our Guild House - into the wild to gather supplies or investigate an area... a brave party of guildies journeying across the lands together and fighting to survive against overwhelming odds... kinda reminds me of Ryzom, only with zombies.
That's something that I've found lacking from MMOs such as LOTRO or SWTOR:- a sense of community and belonging that I've not seen since SoR. I like the idea of a game where we can all work together (no problems such as being on different quests, or having to open up areas depending on character level) - a sanctuary we can use as our base, a place to explore and hunt together, and maybe (when there are enough of us) a chance to go out in raiding parties to other servers.
So count Porthos and me in - we're definitely up for this. ;D

I'm intrigued by the perma-death aspect, which might make me sound a bit morbid. But you could get an incredible tense "Walking Dead" vibe going within a group with only one life.

Porth and I have both pre-ordered, and I have registered on the forum and added Dar (Lister) to my friends list. Unsurprisingly, my username is Floode. I've also pre-ordered two more copies for family members who also wish to help fight in the zombie apocalypse. I'll ask them to register too. We've all bought the Pioneer option so we can play as soon as Monday. The zombie apocalypse is upon us! We need all the able-bodied guildies we can gather together to fight the horde!

Hi guys, I know Kalli and I haven't been on recently but we've had a lot of things going on, but now's not the time to go into details, other than we're both ok and will be back soon.
Hugs
Dar and Kalli
